Meet Kahila Hedayatzadeh - Change Agent #0077 of our #SCN1000ChangeAgents Series.

Kahila Hedayatzadeh is a trained psychotherapist and worked in the field for over 5 years before choosing to create a breakthrough coaching practice to reach more women in the world.

Kahila’s life changed dramatically in March 2010 when her mother was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer. The cancer diagnosis was life-changing in more ways than one. Kahila became a full-time caregiver for her mother and embarked on a journey that set her on the path of her life purpose.

Her purpose and mission became very clear through being a full-time caregiver as she recognized how much our mental (which included our narrative), emotional, and spiritual beliefs not only affect our behaviors, but it also affects our physical body and health.

During this time she began and completed graduate school, married and divorced, and started pursuing her love of helping others heal.

In the beginning of her career as a psychotherapist, she helped adolescents/adults step out of their darkness (suicidal ideations) and find their voice using modalities such as positive psychology and cognitive behavioral therapy. After losing her mother to cancer, she started her work with patients transitioning into end of life. As much as she loved her work, something was missing; and she knew she had a bigger mission in life. That mission was to help women stand in their truth and power. To know that they matter and that they have absolute control over their own decisions and life.

Meet Aaron Velky - Change Agent #0074 of our #SCN1000ChangeAgents Series.

Aaron Velky is an entrepreneur, writer, coach, speaker and artist from Baltimore, Maryland.

Led with purpose, Aaron’s life is different than most, but he spends his time in pursuit of uplifting others, and has given so many others the gift of freedom by subtly, or not-so-subtly, inviting them to challenge their belief of the way the world works.

Aaron’s got a knack for developing unique tools to support change mindset, modes of operation and belief systems. Sometimes you’ve got to get weird to get results, and Aaron drives meaningful dialogue and insightful commentary that can truly change your life or business.

He is the visionary of Ortus Academy, a financial intelligence education company. They created a live-action, sport-like competitive finance game that gets people in the driver’s seat of making money decisions, motivating young students to lean into learning and truly develop, test and explore a new money strategy. Once excited, kids can go through lessons to develop financial intelligence principals. Ortus has already impacted hundreds of students and generated national press, and is now building a national presence through an online course ecosystem.

Teaching kids about money wouldn’t be possible if Aaron also didn’t have a few tricks up his sleeve. He’s an avid travel hacker, systemizing free, alternative methods for seeing the world and now educates hundreds of adults on how to create a new lifestyle for themselves by shedding their belief about travel (https://travelhacking.thinkific.com/c...) and following his system for getting around the globe without spending the big bucks.

He’s a fitness disciple, experienced youth soccer coach, author with his first publication releasing very soon, adrenaline junkie, and painter of the fine arts. He loves to speak, share and teach all he knows and we’re glad to have him here with us today.

Meet Pat Wirth - Change Agent #0072 of our #SCN1000ChangeAgents Series.

The history of women’s suffrage, despite being integral to the fight for voting rights, is one that isn’t known by many. Patricia Wirth is looking to change that. A successful businesswoman and women’s rights activist, Pat has devoted herself to making sure the world knows that women have long been major drivers of change in this country.

Pat was born and raised in Newton, NJ, a small farm town located approximately 60 miles outside of New York City. It was such a small town that the same kids she went to kindergarten with were the ones she graduated high school with. Her mother, a seamstress, instilled in her a sense of responsibility to help the disadvantaged and disenfranchised. Pat got married directly after high school and had her first child at 18; at 21 she had her second child; at 24 she was divorced and a single parent. After becoming a paralegal she spent 10 years in the corporate world’s legal departments and also spent another 5 years as Executive Director for the National Capital Paralegal Association.

In 1997 Pat opened a location of Potomac Falls Express Lube & Car Wash; she opened several other locations after that, and for 16 years she was the Owner/President/CEO of a hugely successful business. Pat got to where she did by perseverance, smarts, business acumen, and knowing that leaders suffer no fools. She knows when to push ahead with an idea she believes in, and no one can prevent her from following the path she knows is the right one for her and her interests.

Pat sold her business in 2013 in order to turn towards what she saw as her next purpose: helping those in need thrive. Her customers were loyal and her business was thriving, but Pat was looking for more, a way to effect greater positive change in the community. Then, while visiting the town of Occoquan, VA, for a fundraiser and learning about the history of its notorious prison, Pat was introduced to the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association (TPSMA), and everything changed.

To donate to the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Association, or to get involved yourself, please visit suffragistmemorial.org.

Meet Kari Galloway - Change Agent #0070 of our #SCN1000ChangeAgents Series.

Kari joined Guest House as Executive Director in 2005--and is credited with leading the organization's tremendous growth ever since. With over 25 years in social services and community advocacy, she brings an "outside the beltway" perspective as a former West Coast resident and small business owner. She is widely involved in the area's social-services community, for example: member, Continuums of Care (partnerships to end homelessness), Arlington and Alexandria; member, Governor's Regional Re-entry Committees in five Northern Virginia jurisdictions; member, Alexandria Council of Human Service Organizations and Alexandria Opioid Workgroup ; member, Statewide Recidivism Reduction Planning Team for Women in Virginia; former chair (2010-2012), Focus Area Committee on Women's Re-Entry, statewide Virginia Prisoner and Juvenile Re-Entry Council.

Kari has received numerous awards for her work but credits the women Guest House serves as the real recipients, for they are her inspiration. In addition to the outreach and administrative duties of an executive director, Kari has always been able—because Guest House is small—to involve herself directly with each client; and today, there are many who say that, without her dogged belief and active support, they would simply have given up (Without that support, said one, "I know that by now I’d be dead”). Education: M.A., Organizational Leadership, Gonzaga University.
